Inspired by Shuji Terayama’s Pastoral: To Die in the Country, this installation work expands the notion of space by “diptych-ing” the world of image and the world of subtitles. The monologue is captured from Terayama’s movie in which the main character reflects on his childhood and questions the boundary of dream and reality. Immersed with abstract visuals of bubbles flowing and disappearing, Diptych invites its audience to join a meditative practice that narrative arch is no longer the core of the experience.
