Laura Dudu 嘟嘟

The filmmaker invites conversations over the engendered body by sharing their family story entangled with the Chinese One-Child Policy. The narrative unfolds from a personal lens. It revisits their very early memory when their grandmother told them that their parents planned to abort them because of their gender and they was the one to blame about their mother’s two forced abortions. The film gives access to the audience of their journey of reconciliation and exploration of gender identity. While drifting through streams of consciousness/unconsciousness of the filmmaker’s the inner world, the film also lands onto the cultural landscape of China’s gender-based abortion and confronts the Chinese government’s policies posted upon womxn’s body.
